Legacy of the 2002 Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games has had a big impact on Manchester which was where it was hosted back in 2002. The impact that the Commonwealth games had on Manchester was massive and a big part of sport. Facilities that were built for the Commonwealth games have gone to good use, for example the Velodrome in manchester was used for the bike races and now it is being used for the training the bike squad for the 2012 Olympics. They also used the Manchester stadium which is now the stadium to Manchester City Football Club. There may also be a sixth form college which is being funded by Manchester City. This is one of the outcomes that the Commonwealth games has made because if the Commonwealth games hadnt been hosted in Manchester then the sixth form might never of been built.

The impact on the economy isnt what they expected, because the games were hosted in Manchester, they did alot of work on their sport facilities, so much work that it has advanced and made sport in the UK bigger. Also the facilites has opened up more oppotunities for people to get jobs at these facilities. This is a positive benefit and a good impact for Manchester as it gives out more job oppotunitys for people.
