Task 3: The scale and economic importance of sport in the UK

By scale, we mean how to measure the sport industry, and by that you can measure it by how many people are going to the 2012 olympics, or by how many sports there are in the world, or by how many clubs there are in a certain sport. you can also measure the scale of sport by the sport retail in the UK. For example the sport shops around the UK and how many customers they get or by how many tickets get sold a year.

The economic importance is the social and financial impact on the sport. Which means how much the sport earns and how many people enjoy participating in the sports. Socially can be people who enjoy playing the sport as a hobby or for exercise or even a job. Financially the sport can take in a lot of money from selling tickets or francise of the club. It also spends money on the media airing the sport games to get even more spectators which then leads to more money for the sport. Tourists also are a good way of making money for sport as people from all over the world travel to watch different sports. For example the 2012 Olympics attracts people from all over the world.

The type of providers the sport have in the UK are public, private and voluntary.
